Editing

During the editing process I learnt how to edit and produce an actual music video using the equipment that was provided for us. This included still cameras, video cameras, apple macs and the actual final cut software programme which we had to upload all of our images and footage's onto in order to use in our music video.

Final Cut allowed us to effectively use its functions to put into order our video. We had to first watch our footage and decide what we wanted in our video. we then used the "i" key to know where we wanted our footage to start and the "o" to indicate when it should stop. Then we needed to drag and insert the footage into the timeline. We also had to get rid of all unwanted sound that would cause any disturbances to the music. We continued to do this up to the ending of the music video to produce our video. We had to also make sure that everything was in order and our footage didn't jump shots making our video seem as if it had no story behind it.

As well as this, this software allowed us to use many different tools such as using effects and transitions. It also had a magnet tool which made all our footage stick together to make sure there were no empty blanks left in between the scenes to make our video look unprofessional and jumpy. We were also able to use the blade tool so that we could use this to get rid of unwanted small extras. I mainly used the blade tool in order to make sure that the lyrics of the song was in perfect timing with the video. This was very long and took time to make sure it was perfect.

Final Cut allowed us to hav a timeline for our effects that we used and where we used it. Also we had aseperate timeline for the whole song with no editing in between and another final timeline for the making of the actual video. Using all three of these timelines we were able to make sure everything fitted perfectly together, our song/music with the video and the video with the effects and transitions. Altogether this made our work very effective.
